Description:  There’s an axiom in the art world that ‘you can’t paint more or better than you understand’. For the artists that are interested in continual growth, this workshop offers an opportunity for just that.  We will work between a balance of lecture, demos, exercises and time to work on your own pieces so you can have a chance to apply the ideas that you’re working with and developing.
This class is for all levels, no matter how much you know there is always room for growth. We will cover everything from daily practice to how the mind learns and adds new information. As for art principles, some of the topics covered will include form, of course, (I find it fascinating that when you listen to the most accomplished artists, this is one of the most discussed topics, there’s always more to learn here and we will delve into it deeply) color mixing, especially greens (I’ve had a lot of artists request that and we will cover much more about color too), design, composition, (yes, they are different), brushes (this is an under discussed topic!), temperature, values, (a much mentioned topic and not usually well understood, we will make serious inroads towards fixing that). You will then learn how to develop your paintings artistically and creatively, again, an under-discussed topic.
These days are jam packed and rich (not to mention the delicious pot luck lunches!)  To sum it up: this class is about paint and how to make it do what you want it to do (and how to know what that is). Any medium is welcome. It is about making you master of your domain! It’s about how to weave inspiration with your perspiration. It’s about developing and artistic eye and a responsive hand. It’s about having fun and being successful.
