Matching Challenge Announced! 📣

The Library Arts Center is once again participating in NH Gives—a 24-hour state-wide giving initiative to worthy non-profits around the state. ⁠ Giving takes place this starting this evening—June 9th starting at 5:00pm through June 10th at 5:00pm.

This year, our initiative helps to support the work of the Library Arts Center and the Newport Public Art Collaborative to help create new public art murals in downtown Newport. We have just received word that the DING Foundation is supporting this public art initiative with an incredible matching challenge of $5,000! Any gifts that are given during the giving window will be matched up to a total of $5,000.

Please give during the 24-hour giving window June 9-10 for the Arts Center to have the opportunity to have gifts matched by special site-wide and Upper Valley specific matching opportunities. Gifts of any size mean the world to us!

It’s Farmers’ Market Friday! 🎨🥕🥬🌶️🌽🥦🥔🍞
We are getting so excited about this afternoon‘s make-and-take art project - Nature Spinners! 🌀

The Library Arts Center will host an art-making booth at the Newport Farmers’ Market every other week throughout the summer. Artist Heidi Lorenz leads these fabulous projects designed to engage children and adults alike. These projects can be completed in a short period of time. This is a free art-making experience to remind us that we are all artists, and should take a little time to make something unexpected, playful, and beautiful.

Community Flower Mural Painting Drop-in⁠

Drop in and add your painted flowers to our temporary community flower mural!⁠
⁠
Drop in and add your painted flowers to the conceptual “garden” temporary community flower mural on canvas. This art piece will be on display in the Arts Center’s entryway for the summer and will stand as a reminder that a flower here and a flower there does not a garden make, but when we put our flowers together, we create a mural that represents the creative community of which we are all part. Children, adults, inexperienced artists, and seasoned artists alike are all encouraged to join this community art making process. Stay for a few minutes, or a few hours and enjoy seeing an art piece come together that respects and encourages each artistic voice involved.⁠

Free to participate, and all materials provided. No pre-registration necessary--just drop in!
