In the event that the Newport School District cancels school due to inclement weather, the Library Arts Center will also be closed. Please check local station WMUR or www.wmur.com for cancellation listings. The Library Arts Center is located at 58 N. Main Street, Newport, NH in a renovated Victorian carriage house to the rear of the Richards Free Library just opposite the Green. Two spacious galleries display changing exhibits of fine arts, crafts and history. Classes, workshops and performances take place throughout the February to December season. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am - 4 pm. Newport, NH is at the junction of routes 10 and 11/103 in the Dartmouth/Lake Sunapee region of western New Hampshire. Newport is approximately 10 miles from exits on the major highways, routes I-89 or I-91. There are three restaurants in town which accept reservations; The Old Court House Restaurant (white tablecloth, American) 863-8360; The Lil' Red Baron (Mexican) 863-1302; Salt Hill Pub (Irish, American) 863-7774; as well as a Greek pizza restaurant called Village Pizza 863-2900
From Interstate 89:take Exit 13 (Grantham exit, Route 10 S) or 12A (Georges Mills exit, Routes 11/103).
From Interstate 91:take exit 8 (the Ascutney, Vt/ Claremont, NH exit). From Claremont, follow signs to Route 11 and Newport; turn left onto Route 10 N, through town, along the Green, turn left into Library parking lot (large yellow building), follow brick path to right of Library into Library Arts Center galleries.The Richards Free Library and Library Arts Center are on N.
